4 Ways to Get Excited About Your Wardrobe Again

When it comes to the end of a season, it can be a pretty depressing time for a girl’s wardrobe. What always ends up happening is that you don’t have any more clothes to wear, because they’re all worn out from the season you just passed. As for the season that’s about to be in swing, all you have is what you collected last year and the year before that. Needless to say, it sounds kind of boring doesn’t it? That is why you’re going to learn how to love your wardrobe again, without having to completely renew it.

Method #1 - Organization

The first thing to do when you’re not feeling your wardrobe -- rip its guts out. Open up your wardrobe, and start going through all your articles of clothing. This is so you have a better sense of all the things you have, and also so you can discard things that you’ve been holding onto for far too long and don’t even know why you got in the first place. An organization will allow you to completely familiarize yourself with your wardrobe again so that you can move onto the next step.

Method #2 - Set Yourself a Challenge

This challenge is really something simple. You can call this the 5x5 challenge and work it for the weekdays. Here is the idea: Pick out 5 separate items from your closet, and begin trying to organize 5 different outfits based off of those items, for the next 5 days. This might really challenge you and force you to think about your sense of style in ways you never really considered before. After doing this challenge once, you’ll see the fun in it and have some great outfits. After doing it multiple times, your mixing and matching skills will be off the charts.

Method #3 - Style It Up or Down

This method is very straightforward compared to the previous, though that doesn’t mean it’s totally simple either. The idea of this challenge is to pick out an outfit you have already prepared in the past. The simpler it is, the better. The reason for this is because you will now practice styling your outfit, up or down. Styling up is putting on something that’s beneath an occasion, but styling in a manner which makes it work. You can think about this like wearing simple jeans and a tee, but putting on accessories and a coat that really makes you look exquisite. Styling down is easier to explain because it’s the same concept but backward. Imagine an Italian man and how he’ll treat his amazing suit as if it were his PJ’s. Now you understand styling up and down.

Method #4 - Accessorize

The fourth and final method to get excited about your wardrobe again is no secret. In fact, it’s known around the world, and it’s known as accessorizing. However, it doesn’t matter the amount of bling you can put on. Best case scenario you’ll just look very tacky. The key to accessorizing is knowing how to do it and what to do it with, and how much. You could wear a single diamond ring, but not a whole set of diamond jewelry for a single occasion. With something like gemstones from loco lapis however, you could light yourself up like a Christmas tree and still look acceptable.

This is the benefit of gemstone jewelry, rather than the conventional modern jewelry with exquisite and incredibly expensive stones. Not only can you have a much larger collection of jewelry in your wardrobe, but you can also put on and mess around with it without looking gauche.
